Training

Onlineinset.net logo

This site provides online training to those working with children and young people with special educational needs. It has been developed by the South Central Regional Inclusion Partnership (SCRIP), and all local authorities within the SCRIP region have unlimited free access to the courses on the site. (See www.scrip.uk.net for a list of these authorities)

The site currently contains four courses, and these will be added to in response to the identified training needs within the region. One of these courses is open access, but the main training courses on the site are intended to be delivered by online tutors drawn from local support services. Regular training events are planned for these tutors in response to demand.

Those local authorities outside the region and other organisations wishing to become involved can also subscribe to the site. For further information please contact your SEN Regional Partnership, or email Hugh Clench, Regional Facilitator, SCRIP

Courses currently on the site are:

  • Understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Inclusion for learners with speech, language and communication needs
  • SENCode in practice (open access)
  • Managing Behaviour
  • There are currently 10319 students registered.

“I think this training will be very useful in helping teaching assistants and mainstream teachers to firstly understand pupils with ASD and secondly to support them in a mainstream classroom. It will help us all to be pro-active rather than reactive when dealing with ASD and provides some practical ideas for interventions.” Sarah Jones. Specialist Teacher. Oxfordshire. more....

"I did find this a great way of doing a course and especially being able to access it again at home so that you can clarify points and print up some of the notes - this was great for the autism course particualry but I shall also be printing of the check lists for the SLCN. As I am on the section on communication between adults and children on my course I am sure some of it will be of real benefit!" - Nikki Crags, St Joseph's Primary School, Bracknell. 7th July 2006 more....
